Title: Quantifying LIGO's response to environmental disturbances in O4 and beyond

Abstract: By virtue of their extreme sensitivity to GWs, the LIGO detectors are also susceptible to environmental noise of known and unknown origin. In this talk, I review the framework used by the LIGO Physical Environment Monitoring group to measure coupling between the LIGO detectors and their environment. I discuss the application of this framework to event validation in the fourth observing run, including instances where environmental noise was clearly present around gravitational wave candidates. Lastly, I highlight some limitations of our current methodology and suggest possible directions for improvement for future observing runs.
