Dynamical Edge Modes and Entanglement in Gauge Theory

I will show how the degrees of freedom of gauge theory in a finite causal diamond split into bulk and edge parts, at both the level of the symplectic form (kinematics) and the Hamiltonian (dynamics). I will then show how the edge part of the modular Hamiltonian gives a crucial contribution to the subregion partition function and the entanglement entropy, resolving certain discrepancies in the literature.
