Gravothermal Collapse of Dark Matter Halos: Observational Insights
Haibo Yu,
UC Riverside,
I will present recent high-resolution N-body simulations of self-interacting dark matter and discuss their implications for a broad range of astrophysical observations. In particular, I will focus on the novel signatures associated with gravothermal collapse in dark matter halos. I will explore the prospects for detecting these signatures through observations of strong gravitational lensing systems, stellar streams, and supermassive black holes, offering new avenues to probe the fundamental nature of dark matter.
The talk is in 469 Lauritsen.
